Delay

Reduction of damages through the use of delaying mechanisms against forced entry. It allows response force to get into position to contain the adversary or prevent malevolent action and is a factor in determining likely avenues of approach. For example, locks are inexpensive access control mechanisms that are widely accepted and used. Locks are considered delaying devices. Types of Locks:

  • Mechanical Locks
  • Combination Locks
  • Cipher Locks (programmable locks)
  • Device Locks (Cable locks, switch controls, slot locks, port controls, cable traps)
